I am a freelance journalist specialising in science, technology, research, higher education and ideas. My work appears regularly in The Guardian/Observer. Other publications I have written for include The Times (of London), Financial Times, Nature and Nature News, New Scientist, The Chronicle of Higher Education, The Lancetand Times Higher Education.
I have an MSc in science communication from Imperial College London (class of 2005) and a BSc (hons) in chemistry from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia, my home town. I relocated from London to San Francisco and became a freelancer in May 2010.
